APPROVAL OF CONTRACT TO EXCHANGE PROPERTY ON ORANGE AVENUEDescription As part of the rebuild of Booker High School, the district has been working with the school's immediate neighbors and the City of Sarasota to realign Orange Avenue so that it goes around, rather then through, the campus. As the civil engineers designed the new roadway and the Design Team examined various site plan options, it became apparent that much could be gained by exchanging property at the northeast corner of Orange Avenue and 35th Street. If approved, Orange Avenue will be designed in such a way as to save the project considerable costs, and the bus loop and parking for the theater will be improved.
Recommendation That the School Board approve the contract to exchange property, including an additional payment, at the intersection of Orange Avenue and 35th Street, Sarasota.
AGREEMENTS/CONTRACTS
13. AFFILIATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND VETERINARY ASSOCIATES OF JACARANDA Description
The School Board offers to students enrolled in the Health Science Program a clinical learning experience through the application of knowledge and clinical skills in actual patient-centered situations in a health care facility. Veterinary Associates of Jacaranda has agreed to make its facility available to the School Board for such purposes.
Recommendation That the Affiliation Agreement between the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, and Veterinary Associates of Jacaranda be approved.

Students compete in speaking contests and earn membership privileges in the Catholic Forensic League, Florida Forensic League, and National Forensic Leagues.

APPROVAL TO AWARD BID #0536 FOR BASKETBALL/TENNIS/PLAY COURTS RESURFACING WITH LINE STRIPING AND REPAIRSDescription Bids to provide 'Basketball/Tennis/Play Courts Resurfacing with Line Striping and Repairs' were received from four vendors on April 7, 2010. The bid of Welch Tennis Courts, Inc., was the best low bid meeting the advertised specifications. The bid of Stewart Tennis Courts and Fencing, Inc., was non-responsive to the requirements to provide samples, specifications, and literature for an alternate product bid. This bid is for a period of one year with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. The funds for these purchases are contained in the capital budget allocated to the Facilities Services Department.
Recommendation That the bid of Welch Tennis Courts, Inc., to provide 'Basketball/Tennis/Play Courts Resurfacing with Line Striping and Repairs' in an amount not to exceed $110,000.00, be approved for award and purchase.

APPROVAL OF CLASSIFICATION OF INOPERATIVE EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE AS PROPERTY TO BE DELETEDDescription The custodians of the property (cost center heads) have certified it to be traded in on new equipment, unaccounted for, not repairable or otherwise inoperable. Property still on hand after reallocation will be salvaged for any useful parts and then sold at auction.

APPROVAL OF THE DELETION FOR DEMOLITION OF PORTABLES #99-387, #99-431 AND #99-473 AT VENICE HIGH SCHOOLDescription The Long Range Planning office has determined that these relocatable classrooms are no longer needed by the District. The specified portables recommended for deletion have been inspected by Construction Services and Facilities Services staff and are deemed to no longer be economical to maintain or renovate. These portables are currently being utilized for various purposes as outlined on the enclosure. Funds for demolition are available in the capital projects account.
Recommendation That the deletion of Portables #99-387, #99-431 and #99-473 at Venice High School from the F.I.S.H. inventory for demolition be approved as presented.
